Celebrity chef Paul Hollywood separates from his wife of 20 years
Sad news
The Great British Bake Off judge and celebrity chef, Paul Hollywood and his wife Alex have announced their separation after 20 years of marriage, in a joint statement.
The statement read, "It is with sadness that we have decided to separate.
"Our focus continues to be the happiness of our son... we ask the press and public to allow us privacy during this very difficult time."
The pair previously separated, four years ago, after the 51-year-old chef admitted having an affair with his US Bake Off co-host Marcela Valladolid, however they worked things out and he described the affair as the "the biggest mistake of my life", in an interview.
Two years after they reconciled Paul and Alex said they were in “a very good place."
Continuing, "We went through a very difficult time but we’re on top right now."
However, sadly two years later they have announced their separation.
Paul met his wife Alex who is also a chef, in Cyprus in 1996 where he was head baker and she was a scuba diving instructor. The couple got engaged just a few weeks after meeting and married two years later. Paul and Alex have one son who was born in 2001.
In recent years Paul is best known as a judge on the popular baking show The Great British Bake Off which he first appeared on in 2010. In the most recent series of the TV show, the first to appear on Channel 4, Paul once again appeared as a judge. He is also due to return for the next series of the programme in 2018.
