August has been quite the month for pop star P!nk, not only has she dropped her first solo single since last year, and announced the name of her new album, but she has just been announced as the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs.

Previous winners of this prestigious award include Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Kanye West, and last year's winner, Rihanna.

Created in 1984, and renamed in honour of Michael Jackson in 1991, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award is awarded to recognise accomplishments in music and film.

P!nk has had a career lasting nearly 20 years and as well as a performer, she is also a talented songwriter and has written many of her songs. She is reported to have written 'Please Don't Leave Me' when she was going through a rough patch with her husband Carey Hart, with whom she has two children.

Check out P!nk's changing hairstyles throughout her years in the music industry:

P!nk (2000)

P!nk made her debut as a solo artist in 2000 with streaked bright pink hair.

In 2000 P!nk had Top 10 hits with 'There You Go', 'Most Girls' and 'You Make Me Sick'.

P!nk (2000)

Within less than a year she had already changed her hairstyle to completely pink and spiky!

P!nk (2001)

2001 was the year that P!nk teamed up with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim and Mýa for their version of 'Lady Marmalade'. She also appeared at The BRITs sporting a slicked back, toned down pink look.

P!nk (2001)

Throughout 2001 P!nk had a number of different hairstyles including a bright pink quiff such as this one.

P!nk (2001)

In one performance P!nk even wore a turban!

P!nk (2001)

In October 2001 P!nk released her hit 'Get the Party Started' which reached Number 2 in the UK, and in December she changed her hairstyle once again to bleached blonde braids with pink streaks.

P!nk (2002)

In 2002 P!nk promoted her second studio album 'Missundaztood' in the UK with a short blonde and pink bob.
'Don't Let Me Get Me' was her first single of the year and it reached the Top 10 here in the UK. In the video, P!nk shows off numerous hairstyles including a punk-rock look, bunches and long braids.

P!nk (2002)

2002 was definitely the year for P!nk's hair, as we saw no less than eight different styles, she even made the brave transition from blonde to black hair which she showed off at the MTV VMAs and on her tour later in the year.

P!nk (2002)

In 2002 P!nk scored her first solo Number 1 in the UK with 'Just Like A Pill'.

P!nk (2002)

Performing in Los Angeles she swapped the side of her parting while keeping her bleached blonde hair.

P!nk (2002)

Later that year, she was joined by her husband-to-be Carey Hart.

P!nk (2002)

At the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards she then took to the red carpet with darker blonde hair.

P!nk (2002)

Before the year ended she had two more styles with black hair and purple streaks...

...before ending the year with black hair and red highlights.

P!nk (2003)

In 2003, P!nk changed her hair back to her trademark pink colour, however this time it was a much darker shade than previously. While arriving at The BRITs she showed off her spiky mohawk.

P!nk (2003)

While she kept the mohawk, P!nk dyed it black for the Hollywood premiere of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. P!nk's song with William Orbit 'Feel Good Time' was featured on the soundtrack of the film and reached Number 3 in the UK.

P!nk (2003)

P!nk's black mohawk didn't last long, when just a few months later she was spotted with a blonde one!

P!nk (2003)

Later that year she appeared in London to promote her album 'Try This' with blonde hair and pink streaks. Both 'Feel Good Time' and 'Trouble' were featured on her album.
In the video for 'Trouble' P!nk can be seen turning up to a pub in the wild west causing trouble, whilst her hair in a blonde quiff with long braids behind doesn't appear to move an inch!

P!nk (2003)

Just two weeks after the last photo, P!nk had another hairstyle to reveal, dropping the pink to show off a casual crew cut.

P!nk (2003)

P!nk's final hairstyle of 2003 was a big departure from her previous cuts with a layered black and blonde bob.

P!nk (2004)

In 2004 the blonde had gone again, as P!nk appeared at the launch of a new Pepsi advert in London. Surprisingly for the singer, she kept this style for a few years, next having a major restyle in 2007.

P!nk (2007)

In 2007, P!nk traded her black bob in for a blonde crew cut, not dissimilar to some of her previous styles.

P!nk (2008)

P!nk then kept her hair blonde for some time, in 2008 growing out the sides and appearing with a surprisingly 'low maintenance' cut. This was also the year she had chart success with 'So What'.

P!nk (2011)

Continuing to grow her hair, P!nk appeared with husband Carey Hart, at the premiere of Happy Feet 2 in 2011. As well as providing a song for the soundtrack, P!nk also provided the singing voice for Gloria.

P!nk (2012)

In 2012, P!nk released 'Blow Me One Last Kiss' which showed off her blonde hair adorned with flowers, however off screen she was papped with a massive blonde quiff at the MTV Music Awards.

P!nk (2013)

A year later, P!nk had kept her hair similar, however she again starred in the music video for 'Just Give Me A Reason' with big curls added to her mohawk and a pink bow!

P!nk (2014)

2014 was a rare year without any P!nk songs in the charts, but it didn't mean she was out of the limelight. P!nk was pictured at Giorgio Armani's fashion show in Paris having once again grown out the sides of her mohawk.

P!nk (2015)

In 2015 it was another rare year where the UK didn't see any hits from P!nk, however she was still in the public eye showing off her blonde hair on the red carpet.

P!nk (2016)

P!nk returned a bit colour to her hair whilst keeping the same style in 2016, when she also released 'Just Like Fire' which was featured on Alice Through The Looking Glass.

P!nk (2017)

P!nk returned after having had her second child Jameson Moon Hart with platinum blonde hair with curls on top.

P!nk (2018)

Appearing at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards in 2018, at Madison Square Garden, P!nk's hair was once again blonde and combed flat.

P!nk (2019)

Appearing on stage in Toronto in 2019, P!nk kept her blonde hair, this time shaved at the sides. 2019 was the year that she released 'Walk Me Home'.

P!nk (2021)

In 2021, P!nk accepted the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards. She also released 'Anywhere Away from Here' with Rag'n'Bone Man.

P!nk (2022)

P!nk rocked her platinum blonde look in 2022 when she performed at Ohana Music Festival.

P!nk (2023 & 2024)

As P!nk embarked on her 'Summer Carnival tour' she continued to rock the platinum blonde look.

In addition to her musical contributions she supports a number of charities including the Make a Wish Foundation, Autism Speaks, Human Rights Campaign, and No Kid Hungry. She is also an ambassador for Unicef.
