Speaking about her mum she added: "Her reaction (to the nomination) was super cute. I actually watched it the other day for the first time. Because my dad and my mum had worked together their whole relationship and made all her music together and his music, like a very collaborative relationship.

"She basically sort of melted her BRIT Award into little medallions and had them made as chains for my dad an her stylist and other people in her team, because she was just like... Obviously she worked hard but it's all about the team and I agree with that statement so, I thought that was super cute."

Mabel's godmother is none other than TV chef and broadcaster Andi Oliver. Mabel's mum Neneh and Andi spoke about how they met in an interview with the Independent in 1998, with Neneh explaining that she'd been friends with Andi's brother.

"It was love at first sight," Neneh gushed. "As soon as we saw each other, it felt like, 'Where the hell have you been?' It was like we'd always known each other. Within minutes we were outside in the smoking room, smoking and planning to make a record together.

"We were in the same place in our lives. She was 17, I was 16. I came from a more bohemian, on-the-move sort of family, and she came from a much straighter background, but we were both breaking out of that environment and finding ourselves. When I saw her, it was like hearing a lost voice. I felt an immediate, unspoken bond. It felt really secure."

Andi added: "We just met and fell in love. It was like I knew her already. She was like an old friend I'd made as a kid. Neneh taught me how to be free as a person. That's a wonderful validation and affirmation of the way you instinctively feel. If I hadn't met her I think I'd be more scared of being me."

Mabel has also showered praise over her godmother's daughter, TV presenter Miquita Oliver, telling NME in 2022: "We shared a bedroom for many years while she was doing Popworld and everything, which was so fun.

"She was like my big sister. She was the first person that ever straightened my hair, and took me to buy Dunks. I still think she’s the coolest thing ever."
