Kem Cetinay reveals the heartbreaking reason he left school at 13
He won Love Island 2017
Love Island 2017 winner Kem Cetinay has opened up about his teenage years and revealed the heartbreaking reason why he ended up leaving school at the age of just 13-years-old.
Kem, who is now 21-years-old, admitted he suffered with severe anxiety growing up and had to see a counsellor seven days a week for three years, before he felt like himself again.
He told The Sunday Times Magazine, "Anxiety can be a dark path if you don’t handle it well. I’ve seen it first hand. I was taken out of school when I was 13, in year nine.
"People don’t know I didn’t finish school, that I was a different person to how I am now … I basically had therapy seven days a week for, like, three years."
He is now on a mission to get other men to talk openly about their feelings and to encourage those to speak out, if they're suffering.
He said, "So many guys are scared, so many of my friends won’t admit to feeling anxious.
"It was only because I had the best help that I got through it. Talk to people, be honest about it – it’s so much better. A lot of guys have insecurities."
Kem Cetinay won Love Island 2017 alongside his girlfriend Amber Davies, beating favourites Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt for the £50,000 cash prize.
Since then the couple have been hugely successful, attending a number of star studded events and even presenting Good Morning Britain's showbiz section during the school holidays.
Kem and his Love Island side kick Chris Hughes have now landed their very own spin-off TV show and fans seriously can't wait.

Marcel Somerville
In completely brand new information - Marcel was in the 90's band Blazin Squad. WE KNOW RIGHT. He's so modest about that sort of thing.
