Katie Price breaks down revealing her mum has same condition that killed Keith Chegwin

Former glamour model Katie Price broke down in tears and was forced to leave the Loose Women set earlier today after she publicly spoke about her mum's terminal illness live on air.

The mum-of-five appeared on the panel alongside Ruth Langsford, Denise Van Outen and Janet Street-Porter, and as the ladies paid tribute to the late Keith Chegwin, Katie revealed her mum has the same illness he sadly died from.

Speaking about her mum Amy's condition, Katie said, “IPA (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) isn’t well known and there should be more awareness because once you’re diagnosed, it’s too late. It’s an incurable lung disease, no one knows how you get it."

As Janet Street Porter said, “Your mum was on the show to talk about it wasn’t she?” Katie responded saying, “Yeah but it didn’t really hit me then.”

Speaking about Keith Chegwin, Katie then added, “Keith got in touch and we’d been speaking to him a lot and he was trying to help my mum. I knew all along about Keith but I never said it to anyone and I can’t believe that within six months he’s gone."

As Katie began to get visibly upset, the 39-year-old put her head in her hands and said, "The thing is my mum is going to die, I just don’t want her to die.”

As the panel consoled her, Katie added, “She’s getting worse, she’s having to sell her house now because she can’t get up."

As Katie admitted it could be her last Christmas with her mum, things all got too much, leading Ruth to walk her off the Loose Women set.

Ruth later told the audience, "She (Katie) wanted to come on today and talk about Keith’s condition and raise awareness. Unfortunately as you saw she couldn’t cope talking about her mum so she’s gone off and we’ve got her a cup of tea and we are going to continue the show without her.”

Fans of Loose Women were quick to send messages to Katie, including TOWIE's Danielle Armstrong.

After Keith Chegwin's family announced the sad news of his death yesterday, Katie took to her Twitter account to pay her respects to the TV presenter.

Revealing her mum has the same lung condition, Katie wrote, 'I am absolutely gutted that Keith has passed away. I only spoke to him few weeks ago and he was giving my mum advice as she is suffering with the same lung condition my mum has which is IPF a incurable lung disease!' sic

She added, 'He was such a very down to earth and extremely funny and absolutely loved his wife Maria and children so much! I will miss him and soo gutted as we were all trying to fit in a date to meet up. I'm just in shock how quick this has all happened since I spoke to him. RIP Keith and will continue with your advice for my mum xx'. sic

At the time of publication, Katie is yet to comment about today's episode of Loose Women.
