Coronation Street star, Beverley Callard addressed the doubts about her vegan diet on last night’s episode (November 30th) of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! , after eagle-eyed viewers spotted her eating a Scotch egg despite being on a plant-based diet.

Earlier in the series Beverley took part in the first eating trial, alongside Vernon Kay and Jordan North, where she was given vegan alternatives, but this later caused fans to take to social media claiming the star had eaten both bread and butter, and a Scotch egg in camp.

The soap star, who was eliminated from the show last night alongside Victoria Derbyshire in a double eviction, cleared up the confusion about her eating habits during her exit interview with Ant and Dec. The actress explained how she started her vegan diet due to having surgery earlier this year.

She told the boys, “I started it in March because I had an operation. I saw a documentary that said your joints heal quicker if you’re plant-based.”

When told about the comments from her on-screen son Simon Gregson, who previously voiced his doubts about her veganism during an appearance on Loose Women, Bev laughed saying “He knows I’ll give him a slap when I see him.”

This is following Beverley’s daughter, Danielle defending her mum's diet while taking part in a Q&A on her Instagram account, stating her mum would be getting ‘vegan substitutes’ when questioned by observant viewers.

Who knew a Scotch egg could cause so much drama!

Hollie Arnold MBE: £50,000
