Ed Sheeran makes a terminally ill fan's day
He's on tour in Australia
Last updated 16th Mar 2018
Pop star Ed Sheeran is a super busy person, not only is he a very talent singer and songwriter, he is currently on tour in Australia. However, despite being on tour, he has still made time to meet up with some fans including terminally ill Sherie Hagger, who was first diagnosed with stage three Bowel Cancer just over four years ago.
Sherie recently took to her blog called Butt Why Sherie to reveal how her encounter with the 'Shape Of You' singer came about. Sherie explained how she has been ill for many years, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when she was 15, then in 2013 she was diagnosed with stage three Bowel Cancer.
It was about a week before Ed Sheeran's gig in Adelaide that she couldn't sleep. She decided maybe 'I can try and find someone to organise a meet and greet between he and I...'
She spent ages drafting an email and included links to her blog and Facebook page and sent it out to radio stations, charities and tour promoters.
Eventually someone contacted her and she was lucky enough to meet the pop star before his gig.
Writing in her blog Sherie said, 'So yes… it happened, it actually happened, and I still pinch myself to this day, and look back at my photos to make sure it wasn’t a dream.'
Sherie went on to explain how she arrived at the venue with her family and they, along with some other fans, had the opportunity to spend time with the singer.
Sherie said in her blog, 'He’s normal, he’s down to earth, he’s humble, he’s kind, he’s everything I had expected – if not more – plus he genuinely loves his fans.'
The singer even signed Sherie's phone as she explained all of his music is on her phone.
This isn't the first time Ed has shown his compassion and visited terminally ill fans or recorded messages for them. Earlier this month the singer donated a guitar to a terminally ill 11-year-old girl and also sent a lovely video message to a terminally ill mum.
Ed is currently in the middle of the Australian leg of his 'Ă·' tour and will be coming to the UK very soon. Starting in May, he will be performing at four locations across the UK. Tickets are still available to buy for some of his dates from Aloud.com.
