EastEnders star Shona McGarty has announced her engagement

Congratulations are in order for EastEnders actress Shona McGarty, who plays Whitney Dean, after she has revealed she's engaged to her boyfriend Ryan Harris.
The happy couple, who have been dating for five years, started off as friends but after helping each other deal with their previous break-ups, they started dating and have been together ever since.
Now the 26-year-old star has revealed the incredible moment her 34-year-old fiancé proposed to her on her birthday. She told OK! magazine, "Ryan threw me a surprise party for my birthday at a golf course and the choir who I sing with burst into song.
"When I cut the cake, there was a box on the top of the cake with a ring inside."
The EastEnders star went on to reveal they're planning on getting married later this year, "We're getting married towards the end of the year in the UK. We would like an Irish-themed wedding," she told the magazine.
Ryan is already a dad to 10-year-old Scarlett and six-year-old Alfie from his previous relationship, and Shona has admitted she gets on really well with his children. She explained, "To be honest I never thought I'd go out with someone who already had children, but it couldn't have worked out any better.
"It's so lovely and I couldn't imagine my life without them now."
The couple are also looking to expand their family in the future, with Shona saying, "I come from a big Irish family so I want loads of children - we'd definitely like a large family."
