This Morning host and former news anchor Eamonn Holmes was heavily criticised last weekend as he appeared on the second series of Celebrity Gogglebox alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, resulting in him hitting out at Channel 4 for 'cruelly' editing his comments.

Following a public apology from Channel 4 and an explanation about his comments on Twitter, Eamonn has now spoken to Pete Snodden on his podcast 'The Journey', where the 60-year-old has candidly spoken about his late father.

Speaking to Pete, Eamonn spoke about his father's tragic death, after he suffered a heart-attack at the age of just 64.

Despite having a very impressive career so far, Eamonn was quick to state he would like to achieve more, saying, "My father was dead at 64. He died of a heart attack.

“That gives me four years. Ruth says, ‘Don’t talk like that,’ but you do think like that.”

The Belfast native then added, “There’s projects that I crave and I’ve got interests in lots of things. There are things I would like to do. I’d like to do biopics on people. I would like to interview Clint Eastwood.”

Meanwhile, after receiving the backlash on social media for his comments about BBC show Ambulance, Eamonn issued a statement, accusing Gogglebox bosses of editing him in a 'cruel and idiotic' way.

He told fans, 'In reply to a number of complaints.... I am hurt beyond belief that @C4Gogglebox chose not to use me talking about my Father dying from a Heart Attack at the side of a road and replace it with a funny story following a young lad giving his Father CPR . Idiotic and cruel edit.'

'So following a tragedy that has forever haunted my family, I am in no mood for criticising holier than thou mouthpieces on here who haven't gone through what we did. I had nothing but praise and emotion for the Ambulance control room TV programme. An atrocious edit.'

Eamonn then added, 'How my Father died was a particularly horrible experience for my Mother , my younger brother and his friend who were all in the car. The resuscitation in The BBC Ambulance programme was as close as could be to my Dad's passing.Yet I am the one edited to make it look like a laugh.' (sic)

After Channel 4 publicly apologised and re-edited the episode, both Eamonn and Ruth are set to appear on the second episode of Celebrity Gogglebox this evening (Friday 12th June).

The pair will be joined by the likes of Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling, Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash, and Denise van Outen and her partner Eddie Boxshall.
