Disney star turned pop superstar Demi Lovato has bravely spoken about her past addictions and struggles for her brand new hard-hitting documentary Dancing with the Devil.

What is Demi Lovato's Dancing with the Devil about?

The new show documents Demi's near fatal overdose in 2018, as well as focusing on the dark moments throughout her career in the spotlight.

Directed by Michael D. Ratner, the brand new trailer shows Demi bravely and openly talking about the darkest moments in her life, including her battle with mental heath and a number of eating disorders.

Speaking about the overdose she took in 2018, which left her fighting for her life in hospital Demi says in the trailer for the new doc, “I had three strokes, I had a heart attack, my doctors said that I had five-to-ten more minutes.”

In the trailer the 'Skyscraper' singer also reveals to fans she has lasting effects from her overdose, confirming she can no longer drive and finds it difficult reading due to blurred vision.

Sharing the clip of her documentary to her socials, Demi said, 'I've been holding #DemiDWTD incredibly close to my heart, and now it's time to share an inside look. This is only a short preview of what is to come... Join me on March 23 for the premiere on @Youtube 💗'. (sic)

Demi's four-part documentary has been described as, 'Demi Lovato holds nothing back in this powerful four part documentary series exploring every aspect that led to her nearly fatal overdose in 2018, and her awakenings in the aftermath.

'Director Michael D. Ratner is granted unprecedented access to the superstar’s personal and musical journey during the most trying time of her life as she unearths her prior traumas and discovers the importance of her physical, emotional, and mental health. Far deeper than an inside look beyond the celebrity surface, this is an intimate portrait of addiction, and the process of healing and empowerment.'

Admitting she's ready to get back to making music, Demi adds, "I've had a lot of lives, like my cat, you know? I'm on my ninth life. I'm ready to get back to doing what I love, which is making music.

"I'm not living my life for other people, or their headlines, or their Twitter comments."

After seeing the short trailer, fans of the 28-year-old were quick to praise the star for talking about her struggles and helping others.

One user wrote, 'Wow wow wow! So proud of you and can’t wait to see! ❤️❤️❤️', with another adding, 'I have never been so proud of someone. love you miss demi @ddlovato'. (sic)

Another wrote, 'Damn, it’s still scary to see some of that, but I’m proud of you for telling your story. I know it’s gonna help a TON of people. Love you ❤️'. (sic)
