Hollywood actress Christina Applegate has made her first public appearance since announcing to fans that she'd been diagnosed with incurable neurodegenerative disease Multiple Sclerosis, at the age of 49.

Christina, who is due to appear on the third and final series of Dead To Me when it lands on Netflix on Friday 17th November, attended her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony this week, after it was postponed back in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Ahead of the ceremony, Christina spoke to Variety about her future, admitting her role as Jen Harding could be her last.

She said: “Jen Harding is the one, who — who knows, quite possibly the last one I’ll play. With my disease, I don’t know how capable I am. But this was a gift. This was a gift to me.”

During her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Christina teared up as she spoke about her 11-year-old daughter Sadie, whilst being assisted on the podium by her co-star and friend Linda Cardellini.

She said: “The most important person in this world is my daughter. You are so much more than even you know. You are so beautiful and kind and smart and interesting. I’m blessed every day that I get to wake up and take you to school…thank you for standing by me through all of this.”

Christina, who has featured in popular shows like Married... With Children, Friends, and Up All Night over her extensive career, confirmed the sad news of her diagnosis on Tuesday 10th August 2021.

She wrote on Twitter at the time: 'Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it.

'As one of my friends that has MS said “we wake up and take the indicated action”. And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing. Thank you xo'. (sic)

Fans of the actress were quick to comment on her post, with many sending their well wishes to Christina.

One fan wrote: 'You’re so incredibly strong I love you so much', with another commenting: 'Goodness. Sending you all the love. I was lucky enough to see you in Sweet Charity, you were amazing. You are still amazing. xxx'. (sic)

A third added: 'Sending so much love & support & good energy your way', with another commenting: 'Sending you so so sooo much love you beautiful, strong lady'. (sic)

Christina rose to fame as a child actress playing the role of Kelly Bundy on popular sitcom Married... with Children. The actress went on to achieve an extensive career in the world of movies and TV, featuring in big hitters such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, The Book of Life and Bad Moms.

The 50-year-old, who is married with one child, also featured on many popular TV shows, playing the role of Amy Green in Friends and Sam Newly in Samantha Who?.
