It's been a busy week for Geordie TV presenter Ant McPartlin. Not only did he return to work at Britain's Got Talent, the 43-year-old was crowned the winner of the Best Presenter award alongside Dec Donnelly at last night's National Television Awards, despite taking the last year off to recover from his addictions.

Although This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby was dubbed the favourite to end Ant and Dec's 17-year reign, the boys were once again crowned the winners during last night's awards.

After a number of viewers took to Twitter to vent their frustration at Ant winning the award, the I'm A Celebrity hosts have now hit back, retweeting a post on their social media accounts.

The tweet in question was published by an account called Celebrity Secrets, and it read, 'To those of you who are hating: Ant McPartlin hosted all 6 of the @BGT audition episodes last year & 3 of the @ITVTakeaway live shows, so he is eligible & they both deserve it. #NTAs.' sic

Although they weren't at London's O2 Arena to pick up their award, Ant and Dec thanked their fans via a video link from the Britain's Got Talent auditions.

As they both teared up as they accepted the award, Ant said, "I really don't think I can accept this award this year. The one reason we won this year is this guy Dec - his hard work, dedication, funniness and being the best mate that is out there."

A gobsmacked Dec then added, "This year, probably more than ever, thank you to everyone who picked up the phone and voted for us."
