Six hay bales had to be extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Resuce Service in a field next to Dean Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police.

It happened at Priory Stores, located opposite the junction of Upperton of Gask on the unclassified road from Turriff to Thorneybank.

Police are following a number of lines of enquiry.

Constable John Riddell, from Turriff Police Office, said: "This fire was set to property stored within one of the rooms at the front of the building nearest to the roadside.

"I am currently conducting a number of lines of enquiry in an effort to identify the person or persons responsible but I would urge anyone that has any information regarding the fire, who witnessed the fire or was in the vicinity at the time to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous."
