Ward 6C at Raigmore Hospital has closed to new admissions while staff deal with several cases of diarrhea and vomiting. Ward 6C, which was closed to new admissions today, has two patients currently affected with symptoms, both have tested positive for norovirus.

As a result the ward has been closed to new admissions overnight as a precaution. The situation is being reviewed on a ongoing basis by the Infection Prevention Team.

Dr Jonty Mills, Consultant Microbiologist for NHS Highland, said: “We would request that visitors help us at this time by not visiting the ward unless absolutely necessary and having first arranged to do so by phoning the ward charge nurse.”

“Hospital staff will of course be very happy to talk to visitors on the phone so they can get updates on how their relatives are”
