Lossiemouth's preparing to host a very special guest on Monday (26th September) as they welcome home Olympic heroine Heather Stanning.

The double Olympic gold medallist will be at Lossie Town Hall (3:30pm) for a meet-and-greet to speak with people in Moray who've eagerly followed her progress as a renowned rower.

Mike Mulholland, is chair of Lossiemouth Community Council:-

Mike said, "We've noticed people stopping at our gold Post Box and having their photo taken. It's surprising just how many times we see that and there are a lot of visitors coming to Lossiemouth actually looking for it. It shows how aware they are of Heather's connection to Lossiemouth"

Members of the public who fancy a chat in the Q&A with Heather are welcome to speak to her or even get a selfie.

Mike said: "She's very good at meeting the public and very friendly and easy going"

Later at 8pm, Heather will be at the Stotfield Hotel where she'll provide the signal for the Lossiemouth Lighthouse to be bathed in a silver and golden glow in tribute to her achievements.

"The idea came from a member of the public, we'd talked from time-to-time about it, but this occasion brought things to a head. We've got a suitable light and we'd look to make that permanent in the future"
