LISTEN: Inverness BID say vacant units are in-line with national average

9% doesn't mark a crisis

Inverness BID say they're confident of attacting new business to the Highland Capital, despite 41 empty units highlighted on social media.

They are playing down the figures, saying it is in-line with the national average, and pointing out that there are approximately 430 shops in total within the city.

However Inverness BID manager Mike Smith says work needs to be done on rates; "The rates situation hasn't adapted to the new market. The rates re-evalutation which was due in 2015 was delayed for two years and that's been detrimental"
