A Highland woman's making a desperate bid to raise cash to get vital vet treatment for a dog plucked to safety from the streets of Romania.

Amanda Leask rescued Phoenix, who was destined to live in a shelter crammed with other strays, and brought him to her home in Strathglass.

The dog lover needs to raise ÂŁ2,000 to get his badly damaged leg treated.

Crown Vets in Inverness have agreed to carry out the work and so far Amanda has raised just over ÂŁ300.00

She has set up a Just Giving page on the crowdfunding site of the charity site.
