Black Isle Wildlife Park is giving up exotic creatures after criticism
Animals have already been leaving the Black Isle Wildlife Park which has given up its zoo licence.
Assistant manager the North Kessock attraction, Alison MacKenzie, has told MFR News: "We've been re-homing some of the exotic animals.
"They've been going down south to a proper animal dealer.
"We're not going to have the zoo licence anymore, which means we won't have some of the exotic animals - like the lemurs, the meerkats, the macaws, the zebra, and the wallabies.
"It's just the exotics which are going, but we'll be open as normal - as a country park.
"We'll have ponies, goats, and lamas."
The Drumsmittal site's given up various creatures after public officials critisized their inappropriate enclosures.
The family business owners claim they voluntarily surrendered their zoo licence around 4-weeks-ago before Highland Council decided to revoke the licence and order the park to shut-down.
It plans to keep only domestic animals but the park owners will have to apply to the local authority for a licence to do that.
