Growing up, we all had a dream job and a recent survey says that us would happily ditch our mundane the day job to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo, James Bond or even Doc Brown.
Here are the top 10 most popular jobs in the North of Scotland. If your job is in there, give yourself a pat on the back – you’ve made it!
- Footballer 2. Private detective 3. Actor/actress 4. Spy 5. Becoming my own boss 6. Singer/pop star 7. Vet 8. Astronaut 9. Dancer 10. Mad scientist
We put this to the test on air and when I asked the question I got a totally different top 3: Jane from Elgin “Wanted to be a weather girl!”, Derek from Inverness wanted to be “A Professional Wrestler called “The Weather Man”. I would make weather based puns in all of my promos. i.e. "The outlook is cloudy with a chance of pain!" and Gail from Buckie “Has always wanted to be an Undertaker”
I must admit, those were a surprise! Here’s a couple more jobs which are specific to the North of Scotland:
Steve Heltham. He’s a full-time Loch Ness Monster Hunter and has been since 1991.
You can find him on Dores beach and for more info, check out his website.
The WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre in Spey Bay has some great employment opportunities, and you can try before you chose this as a career path as they are always looking for volunteers, like Charlotte who helped them out a few years ago and she’s now working for the Marine Biological Association.
Here’s what she had to say about it, “Work really doesn’t feel like work when you are having such good fun, I felt extremely lucky to be there.” If you’d like more info then get in touch with the centre on: 01343 820 339 or email: volunteers.scotland@whales.org
