American environmental activist Erin Brockovich has weighed in on Aviemore's water row.
As we reported yesterday, Scottish Water hope to improve the quality of drinking water in the area using chloramination – a process which allows for a reduction in the level of chlorine, helping to further improve the taste.
It follows a number of complaints about the taste and quality of the tap water from local residents.
But last night Erin Brockovich shared her views about the process on social media:
Simon Parsons, Strategic Customer Service Planning Director of Scottish Water, said: “We want all our customers to enjoy the look and taste of their tap water. Water quality across Scotland is at its highest ever level"
“We are now outlining our plans to introduce chloramination - a process which allows us to reduce the level of chlorine - and further improve the taste of the drinking water received by customers through their taps.”
“This new water supply introduced in 2012 for Aviemore provides high quality water, a security of supply and the ability to support a growing community. We always accepted that a small number of customers may be more sensitive to the changes in their water supply. We have been listening carefully to our customers and working with our operational teams to find the right solution to ensure that everyone enjoys this new supply."
