Beyoncé’s support act is…

Were piecing together the mystery...

Published 27th Jun 2016

Beyoncé will be at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on Tuesday 28th for her Formation Tour and still no one can figure out who her support act is!

To try and piece it together we have looked into past opening acts on previous tours…

Dangerously in Love Tour

The Dangerously in Love Tour was Beyoncé's first solo concert tour. There seemed to be a problem with the support act for this show as a voice announced just before Beyoncé came on that there would be no opening act… I guess this one is a mystery.

The Verizon Ladies First Tour

Beyoncé's first co-headlining venture, The Verizon Ladies First Tour, featured American R&B-soul singer Alicia Keys and American rapper Missy Elliott, with Canadian singer Tamia as their tour guest. There was no support for this show but with so many amazing ladies performing – who needs an opening act?

The Beyoncé Experience

Beyoncé's first worldwide solo tour, The Beyoncé Experience supported her second studio album, B'Day . The tour featured an all-female band under the name "Suga Mama", chosen by Beyoncé and support acts included Chris Brown, Robin Thicke, Sean Kingston, Ludacris and in the UK – Katy Shotter.

The I Am… World Tour

Launched in support of I Am... Sasha Fierce, the I Am... World Tour was Beyoncé's second worldwide tour. Opening acts included the likes of Flo Rida, and in England and Ireland Queen Bey as supported by Shontelle and Zarif.

The Mrs Carter World Tour

The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour was Beyoncé's third consecutive worldwide concert tour venture and also became her longest running, spanning over 2013-2014. Monsieur Adi joined her in Glasgow, Manchester, London, Birmingham and Dublin and the X Factor’s Sam Bailey supported on one of her Birmingham dates.

The On the Run Tour

The On the Run Tour was the all stadium-tour, headlined by Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z. Support for this tour was Beyoncé’s sister Solange, who released her first studio album Solo Star in 2002 to moderate commercial and critical success but has never achieved the same level of fame as her sister.

Formation Tour

Finally, Beyoncé’s Formation World Tour is her latest and biggest tour yet. DJ Khaled has been announced as opening act. DJ Khaled soon took to social media to express his gratitude.

But the record producer, radio personality, DJ and record label executive will only be with Bey until June 14th, so who is coming to Sunderland?
