Witness appeal after man falls from car in Newcastle.

At approximately 7.15pm on November 7th, police received a report of an incident on Shields Road in Byker.

A VW Polo was travelling west on Shields Road at the junction with Benfield Road and Coutts Road when a passenger, for reasons yet to be established, falls from the rear near side door of the car.

Following the fall the driver of the Polo did not stop.

The passenger, a 34-year-old man, was taken to hospital with a head injury where he remains in a critical condition.

Enquiries are on-going to establish the circumstances and police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
