Washington Star Says Celebrity Surgery Obsession Must Stop
An obsession with how we look is ruining lives in the North East.
That's what we're hearing from Jamie Lambert – who won Britain’s Got Talent last year with his band Collabro.
Since joining the celebrity world - the 26 year old from Washington says he's horrified by some of the expectations.
“The norm in the celebrity industry is to look like gods and goddesses who have rippled six packs or fantastic contours… That’s what it is.”
“You’ll see people who look really gorgeous and slim and then you’ll see them in real life and they look like ants with a tiny body and massive head. They’re tiny! The TV does add weight. That’s the pressure that they’re under to keep their careers going. I think that’s wrong.”
“If you name a celeb around my age or within ten years, it’s likely that they will have had work done. Whether its botox or a face lift or a peel… it’s likely they’ve had something done.”
Jamie is calling on all celebrities to become a more positive role model, rather than encouraging young people to try and imitate expensive cosmetic work.
He’s backing our campaign, Scratching The Surface, to highlight the risk that thousands of people here take when they turn to cut price procedures and dodgy DIY.

Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison admits that a fresh face in front of the cameras is not an option.
“Celebrity stars, reality TV people, whatever… We do wear a lot of makeup where image is very polished now. It’s more controversial for you to be fresh faced and all the rest of it.”
