Police investigate after man hit with brick at Wallsend Metro Station
Police investigating a report of assault at a North Tyneside transport hub are appealing to the public for information.
Northumbria Police are investigating after a disturbance at Wallsend Metro yesterday evening, where a man was repeatedly hit with a brick.
Just before 5.15pm yesterday (Monday), police received a report of a disturbance at Wallsend Metro Station.
It was reported that a group of men attended the Metro station and hit another man repeatedly with a brick.
Police were called and were on scene within minutes, however the suspects had already made off before officers arrived.
A 33-year-old man suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital where he currently remains in a stable condition.
Officers have already spoken with a number of witnesses, but are now appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch.
The area in and around Wallsend Metro Station was particularly busy at the time of the assault as it is one of the main transport hubs in North Tyneside, and officers believe there are more witnesses to come forward.
