Ticket scam warning from Northumbria Police
A suspected scammer has been arrested following reports of fraudulent concert tickets being sold on social media.
In recent weeks Northumbria Police say they've received reports from people concerned they had been duped into buying bogus tickets for events including Peter Kay and a range of upcoming concerts.
The incidents were flagged to us via Action Fraud and when the force reviewed the spate, an investigation was launched.
Officers soon arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the alleged fraud and he's currently on bail while those enquiries continue.
It's important to remember that most fraud is preventable and scammers will always try to make the most of a situation.
If you are trying to buy tickets to one of the many events coming the region this summer, please stick to buying from the trusted sources you know.
Deals you see on social media might look good and seem appealing but you need to consider how reliable and reputable the seller is, and how accountable they will be if something goes wrong.
If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Fraudsters are experts at getting people to hand over cash so don’t be embarrassed if this has happened to you- make sure you report it so their offending can’t continue.
