Three men arrested after suspects jump into the River Wear in Durham
Police were pursuing a suspected stolen vehicle this morning (30th June)
Three men are under arrest after two of them jumped into the River Wear to avoid the police during a chase this morning (Thursday 30th June) in Durham.
Officers pursued a suspected stolen vehicle through the city centre at around 8:40am.
Durham Police had first been alerted on the A690 near West Rainton and they pursued the vehicle to Claypath.
A spokeswoman said: "Three men have since been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody."
