Officers have released images of two people they are looking to speak to after a man and a woman were allegedly assaulted on board a bus.
At about 7.45pm on Saturday, July 15, a man and a woman boarded the X72 Go North East bus at Gateshead Interchange.
It was reported that two people, who were already passengers on the bus, intervened as a woman wearing a face covering was being verbally abused by other passengers.
At this point one of the offenders has assaulted the male victim while the other offender assaulted the female victim.
Thankfully no-one sustained any serious injuries.
Officers are investigating the alleged assaults and have today released images of two people who they would like to speak to.
They were both in the area at the time the assaults took place and may be able to help police with their enquiries.
The man and woman, or anyone who knows who they might be, should use the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the police website or call 101, quoting crime reference numbers: 088316Y/23 or 088314D/23.
