North Shields singer-songwriter Sam Fender will be showing his support for Tyneside charity NE Homeless, with a one-off gig at Newcastle's City Hall.

All proceeds from the event, on the 24th of May, will be donated to the charity, of which Sam is a patron.

Brian Burridge, who chairs NE Homeless, tells us they are delighted to have Sam getting involved;

"I'm still getting over the shock of the announcement - we've been blown away by it!

"We didn't ask them to do it, Sam and his team came up with the idea to support the charity and it's really going to help raise awareness.

"Sam just gets it and we're so proud to have him working with us."

"It's going to be a great night and it will raise awareness about an issue that's only getting worse across the North East with energy bills going up people are really struggling."

Tickets will be available through a ballot system.

You can find out more about the work NE Homeless do via their website, and more from Sam himself on Twitter.
