A North East comedy co-operative are launching their most ambitious show to date - to celebrate international women's day next month

Felt Nowt are organising Tyne To Stand Up on the 8th of March - a comedy gala featuring a host of the region's top female talent

All the money raised from the event, at the Tyne Theatre in Newcastle, will be donated to Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland

Host for the night will be Sammy Dobson - who tells us she's delighted to be leading the show:

"I'm not known for being the glue that holds things together, normally!

"It's really, really special for me to host this actually, the Tyne Theatre is where I grew up

"So being on that stage, doing what I do now and being in command of that gig is really genuinely the most thrilling thing I could ever hope to do."

As well as Sammy, there's a whole host of different comedians on the bill, all representing different styles of comedy.

Some names include the likes of Lauren Pattison, Anja Atkinson, Catherine Scott and Kelly Edgar - but you can find the full list here.

Sammy tells us she's so excited to see an all-female line up of comedians on the night:

"Everyone was so excited - for so many reasons - the fact that it's so unique, the fact that it's supporting an amazing cause...

"But the fact that, as women, really, generally we don't get to gig together that often - there's not really that opportunity

"Usually if you're a woman on the bill, you're THE woman on the bill.

"So if there's AN other woman on the bill you're really excited because it's like 'Ooh that doesn't happen very often!'

"If there's more women than men... well...

"But for the entire bill to be women - I mean, it must be verging on nearly 20 comedians - for them to all be women is incredible.

"When I started nearly 9 years ago there couldn't have been that many."
