New research from travel company WeThrift has compiled the top 5 attractions in Newcastle, based on the number of Instragram hashtags.

There are so many places to take pictures, so if you're looking for the next hit Instagram post, here are the best places you can go:

1. St. James' Park

Home to Newcastle United, St. James' Park attracts thousands of football fans and tourists alike to marvel at the stadium. On Instagram, the stadium has been hashtagged just over 750 thousand times, making it easily the most sought after attraction in the Newcastle area. This is reflected in the long running nature of the club, celebrating its 130 year anniversary next year.

2. Theatre Royal

The Theatre Royal is by far and away one of the most striking buildings in Newcastle, with over 345 thousands hashtags for the iconic landmark. A playhouse and a theatre, it is one of the most visited attractions in the city, with 300,000 people coming annually to enjoy the various plays being put on.

3. Jesmond Dene

Reaching just over 96,000 hashtags on Instagram, Jesmond Dene is one of the most popular parks in Newcastle. Situated in the north east of the city, the park is home to a petting zoo that attracts hundreds of visitors, as well as the beautiful nature and bridges connecting the land over waterfalls.
