Newcastle Toddler Given U.S Treatment To Save His Life
A single mum from Newcastle says she is terrified her toddler's cancer will come back - and she won't be able to help him.
A single mum from Newcastle says she's terrified her toddler's cancer will come back - and she'll be left helpless.
Kian Musgrove was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in October 2013, and had 27 different tumours.
His mum Kat has told Metro Radio her two year old son will now travel to America every 3 months for a new trial treatment, called DFMO - which could prevent the cancer from returning.
After raising £140,000 Kian was able to receive his first bout of the groundbreaking medical treatment in the US, and has just received his second.
But doctors say there is an 80% chance the aggressive and rare form of cancer which almost killed Kian a year ago will return.
His family launched a £500,000 fundraising drive as they look to raise cash that could send him to the US for pioneering treatment if he relapses.
They want to keep up the fundraising just incase the current treatment does not work.
Kat told Metro Radio: "It's going to be hard because, its a lot of money, I mean I'm just hoping that Kian doesn't relapse if he doesn't then all the money that is raised will go to another cause."
