Newcastle's Eurovision bid is one step closer

Newcastle has made it one step closer to hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. The shortlist of host cities has been revealed, including Newcastle along with six other cities.

The city - who's bid is being run by the Newcastle/Gateshead group - has made it onto the list of 7 cities which will now have to prove they have the ability to host the contest.

The full Eurovision 2023 shortlist is:

Birmingham

Glasgow

Leeds

Liverpool

Manchester

Newcastle

Sheffield

Around the North East - Darlington had also put in a bid for the contest, but was not successful.
