Organisers of a new alternative music festival, coming to Durham this summer, tell us they're celebrating the return of live music.

The people behind Dominion Festival tell us, after a tough 2 years, it's a relief to be able to provide work to hundreds of people - from bands to everyone behind the scenes.

The 3 day event will be taking place at Ushaw Historic House in Durham, with headliners Cradle of Filth, and a line-up of some of the best metal and rock bands.

Organiser Alex Hutchinson tells us the Gothic venue will be particularly striking;

"When we introduced Dominion it was quite important for us to be at a venue where we knew it inside and out, where we knew we'd be able to deliver exactly what we had promised.

"But yeah, the location, particularly for that type of music is superb - we're very happy with it."

Dominion will be one of the first big live music events to take place in the North East since the removal of all Covid-19 restrictions, and Alex says it's so important for the industry to be able to get back on it's feet;

"It's incredibly important - there's a massive eco-system behind live music that a lot of people don't register

"Tens of thousands of people work in the industry and that's even before we look at the bands

"But for everyone to be back at work is amazing!"

They are also keen to keep making live music as accessible as possible as well.

Alex tells us the team behind Dominion have worked hard to make sure the event is affordable for everyone, with prices of under £100 a ticket a stark contrast to some of the bigger festivals like Reading and Leeds;

"We are quite conscious of where we are in 2022 - we get that a lot of people aren't in a brilliant place on a day to day basis,

"So we've worked really hard to try and keep our ticket price down to the absolute bare minimum,

"Which - for a large camping festival - is quite a feat."

More information about the festival can be found on the Dominion Festival website.
