Man found dead after graveyard fire in Ushaw Moor
Police and Fire services were called out to an incident early this morning
A man has been found dead in a County Durham graveyard, after emergency services were called out to a fire early this morning.
Officers were called out around 6:20am to reports of a fire in a graveyard in Ushaw Moor, and a man was found deceased at the scene.
A statement from Durham Police says;
'Enquiries are ongoing to confirm his identity but officers believe it to be that of a missing man and his family are in the process of being notified.
'It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
'No graves have been affected.'
The graveyard is expected to remain closed for the remainder of the day but should be open as normal to the public tomorrow.
