Investigation launched by police after man dies in South Tyneside RTC

Northumbria Police’s appeal for information continues after a fatal crash in South Tyneside earlier this week.

It happened at just before 8pm on the 26th of July involving an off-road motorbike.

The 41-year-old suffered serious injuries during the incident.

He was taken to hospital but later died, according to the force, who has now launched a full investigation into what happened on Stanhope Road in Jarrow.

In a statement on social media, Northumbria Police said: "We are appealing for information after a man sadly died following a road traffic collision in South Tyneside.

"It happened at just before 8pm on Wednesday, July 26 at Stanhope Road, Low Simonside, Jarrow.

"We were informed of a collision involving an off-road motorbike.

"Emergency services attended the scene and the rider of the motorbike, a 41yo male, was found to have sustained serious injuries.

"He was taken to hospital but sadly died.

"Our thoughts are with the man's loved ones and specialist officers are supporting them.

"We are now appealing to witnesses to contact us. A full investigation has been launched and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the collision.

"Please check your dashcam footage and let us know if you see anything that may be of interest to our investigation."
