#FooFighters - Only 4 More Sleeps....

Published 21st May 2015

Sunderland’s Stadium of Light is preparing for one of the biggest rock shows ever staged in the North East as preparations commence ahead of the Foo Fighters concert.

The Black Cats final home game of the season saw over 46,000 fans flock to the stadium and Monday we see almost 50,000 music-lovers do the same.

The concert promoter and hundreds of set-up crew have moved on-site to begin the huge task of preparing the stadium for its showpiece concert in just a few days’ time.

The vast infrastructure required to host the show is being installed and crowd barriers, handrails, LED boards and advertising hoardings have already been removed from around the playing field and a special surface is being laid which covers the entire pitch.

An external courtyard area, designed to house pre-show entertainment, food courts and bars, is also under construction.

Facilities manager Peter Weymes said:

“There’s a huge amount of work involved in preparing the stadium for the concerts and getting it ready for the arrival of the band.

The stadium team are working hard and pulling together to make sure we will be in a fantastic shape for the concert and I’m delighted with the Facilities Team, who are, as usual, going the extra mile to deliver a fantastic event.”

A small number of additional general admission and seated tickets with prime views have been released for the show and are available to buy directly from the Stadium of Light ticket office or by calling the ticket hotline, 0191 551 5004.

The ticket office is open 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 10am until 1pm on Saturdays.
