Tyneside band to release Euro 2020 single to raise funds for the homeless
A group of Tyneside musicians, Our Little Indie Band, are releasing a heart-lifting single this Friday to get football fans in the mood for the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament.
#BELIEVE is an anthemic indie-pop banger written in the vein of classic football tunes from across the decades and is set to provide the region with a dose of football fever which has been sorely missed over the past year.
The track was recorded and mixed at Blended Studios in North Shields, an organisation that provides access to the creative arts for vulnerable adults and children in the community.
Behind the track is the North Shields-based events company, Our Little Indie Night. The promoters have an impressive track record working with rock & roll superstars including Bez (Happy Mondays), Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Rick Witter (Shed Seven), Blossoms, Tom Turgoose (This is England) and many more.
Neil McBride of Our Little Indie Band commented: “The song is a bit of encouragement to get behind the England lads this time. You never know what could happen! We also wanted it to be a strong reminder to spare a thought for those less fortunate.”
Proceeds from sales and streams of the track will be going directly to North East Homeless Hub, a charity that provides vital support to vulnerable and homeless people across the North East.
The money raised will be directed to the running of the organisations’ new base in North Shields and will allow its passionate team of volunteers to continue providing crucial support to vulnerable people on the streets.
“Nobody should ever be in a position where they are hungry or without shelter. It’s an absolute honour to help North East Homeless provide valuable care to those who need it most,” John Peacock of Our Little Indie Band said.
Our Little Indie Night has earned a reputation in the region for putting on some of the best indie events in the area. During the first lockdown, the company founders Richie Harrison, Neil McBride and John Peacock worked tirelessly to broadcast DJ sets and performances to hundreds of fans via social media.
The online events raised over £15,000 for various different causes, including the NHS Association of Charities, British Red Cross, The British Heart Foundation and two local charities, Quinn’s Retreat and Family Gateway.
Richie Harrison added: “I was blown away by the generosity of those tuning into our streams. We only started doing it for a bit of fun but it just escalated! It was an honour to raise so much money for so many great causes.”
#BELIEVE is available on all major platforms, including iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music and TIDAL from June 11th 2021.
