Drugs packaged in sweet style wrappers seized in Bedlington
Officers arrested two men after they found more than 100 packages
Drugs packaged in sweet style wrappers and £1,000 in cash have been seized by officers in Bedlington.
Two men were also arrested as part of the proactive operation aimed at tackling drug-related offending.
More than 100 packages of psychoactive substances – wrapped in sweet style packaging – were discovered in two separate incidents over the weekend.
On Saturday, Bedlington Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant at an address in the town’s Jubilee Terrace.
They found a haul of psychoactive substances, packaged like sweets, which were seized along with £1,000 in cash.
Officers also discovered a spare room dedicated to cannabis cultivation.
Two men, aged 28 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of drug offences. They have since been released under investigation.
The next day, officers in North Shields found an abandoned uninsured vehicle on Church Road and discovered another collection of packaged psychoactive substances left in the car.
Inspector Phil Patterson said:
“We know that people involved in the supply of drugs prey on vulnerable members of society and look to profit from the misery of others.
“We will proactively pursue and disrupt the activities of anyone involved in this type of offending.
“If you suspect drug dealing is taking place in your area please report your concerns to us.”
