A North East charity has been chosen as the benefactors from sales of a new book.

Dementia Matters offers 24 hours a day, seven days a week support in people's homes.

They also run specialist dementia friendly day care centres in Newcastle and Cramlington and offer a respite and residential unit for people with dementia in Brunswick Village.

Newcastle-based publisher Mojo Risin' has released a book of monologues for female actors in aid of the charity.

A playwright, who wished to remain anonymous, sent a manuscript to Steve Wraith from the Publising company.

They requested that all of the proceeds from sales of the book went to a dementia charity, as someone in their family suffered from the condition.

Steve met up with the staff at Dementia Matters who offered him a tour of their centre and straight away it was decided that's where the money would go.
