County Durham’s much-loved Scoop Music Festival returns with big plans and a new home

Back by popular demand, County Durham’s favourite two-day music festival is heading to its new home of Burnhopeside Hall this Summer, bringing a whole host of family-friendly fun!

From its wholesome line-up of artists, to its renowned assortment of street food and finally to the great variety of camping options available, this year’s fest is shaping up to be a hit.

Headed back to the scenic village of Lanchester, the much-loved Scoop Music Festival is once again showcasing the North East’s best and brightest pop, rock and tribute talent for a weekend full of live music and entertainment for all ages from the 29th of July!

And for the first time ever, it will be hosted on the stunning and historic grounds of Burnhopeside Hall. The World Heritage site is located 6.5 miles west of Durham City, was the home of the famous engineer William Hedley. A working model of his "Puffing Billy" railway engine is at Beamish Museum (5 miles North). The Country House provides a beautiful setting for a peaceful festival vibe and is surrounded by 18 acres of gardens and woodland stretched over 475 acres.

Founded in 2018 by Tristan Raine, Scoop Music Festival aims to celebrate outstanding regional talent in an area of outstanding local beauty. Focusing on supporting established and emerging talent, the festival wants to provide a platform for artists as the music industry finally starts to get back on its feet after a couple of years of cancellations due to COVID-19.

The festival is produced by the Durham based promotion company, Events85 and celebrated North East promoter Tristan Raine. He said:

Bands that are set to perform at the festival include the acclaimed Mumford & Sons tribute band, Chasing Mumford; renowned R.E.M. tribute band, Stipe; Teesside’s treasured ska and 2-tone band, The Skapones; as well as fan-favourite and Newcastle’s Brit-Pop connoisseurs, The National Anthems.

In addition to the historical background surrounding this weekend of entertainment, the festival will host a fantastic range of local street food vendors as well as a fully stocked bar. With both general camping and glamping options available, ticket-holders will be living out their festival dream as they peruse the picturesque Burnhopeside Hall, to the sound of top-notch local talent all while filling up on the best street food the North East has to offer!

Organisers have said that they are continuing to invest in public safety, as Covid still presents a risk for many music/entertainment lovers. To make sure your festival experience is as comfortable as possible, Scoop will be providing hand sanitiser stations and will also encourage audience members to wear a mask if they feel so inclined.
