County Durham's Scarlett Moffatt shares mental health awareness advice
The star, who rose to fame on Gogglebox, tells us how she avoids toxic social media to help
We're being encouraged to ditch toxic social media scrolling and reach out to loved ones to protect our mental health.
It's mental health awareness week - and we're hearing from County Durham born Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt, who's an ambassador for the Samaritans.
Last year Scarlett revealed she had reached out to the charity after being the victim of trolls online.
She tells us it's okay to delete apps if they're making us feel worse about ourselves:
"Social media plays a huge part in people's mental health because everyone's looking on social media and thinking that everyone's got their lives together...
"Side note... we haven't!
"And I know this sounds ridiculous, but delete people who make you feel sad about your life!
"We don't have to follow people who make us feel sad."
Scarlett tells us she has struggled during lockdown, but says to remember not everything we see on social media is true:
"What's got me through is spending time with loved ones, so maybe sometimes just try and take time out to look after yourself and to make sure you are constantly surrounded with people you love."
