CCTV appeal after alleged assault at Metro station

Officers investigating an assault at a Metro station in Newcastle have released the image of a man who they would like to identify.

At about 5pm on April 30, officers received a report of an assault at the Metro station at Newcastle’s Central Station.

It was reported that an intoxicated male was being looked after by the victim, when for reasons to be established, the man proceeded to punch him in the chest.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident, and officers have now identified a man who they would like to trace.

He was in the station at the time of the offence and could have information that can assist police.
