EXCLUSIVE - First interview with one of the Chennai 6 - Nick Dunn can't wait to get home for Christmas.

That’s what Nick Dunn says he’s looking forward to the most about home.

He was acquitted of weapons smuggling yesterday – he’s part of the so-called Chennai Six - former British soldiers who have been released from an Indian prison four years after they were charged – on a full acquittal.

We spoke to Nick in his first interview yesterday, and he told us about the moment he found out he would be released –

“I was actually training with our makeshift weights, and one of the guys shouted at me - and basically said 'case acquitted' and i was like - 'i told you.' I knew deep down it would be a full acquittal and I was just speechless."

Nick and the rest of the six had huge support from their families – and Nick paid an emotional tribute to his sister Lisa –

"The support back home for me has been absolutely tremendous. My sister, as many people have reminded me and told me many times in letters, she's an inspiration. She is the biggest inspiration to me and she deserves national credit for what she's done not just on behalf of me but for the Chennai Six. I love my sister to bits and the support people have showed has kept me going through nearly two years and without them, I’d have crumbled."

It's looking like they’ll be back home in time for Christmas, and Nick said:

"Being back home for Christmas is going to be the biggest Christmas wish my family could have ever asked for. Being in the UK before Christmas is going to amazing, it's going to be five Christmases rolled into one."

For now, the first thing he did was book himself into a luxury hotel, because in his words –

“I thoroughly deserve it to be honest. After living in pretty doom and gloom conditions for nearly two years, i really thoroughly deserve it."

Nick took to Facebook last night to speak to his friends and family.
