A1 to close for several hours today
Diversions will be in place.
National Highways is advising drivers to plan ahead as the A1(M) southbound between J61 - J60 will be closed this morning at 0930.
At around 0430 this morning, a HGV travelling southbound partially left the carriageway blocking lane one within a section of roadworks.
Due to the complexity of recovery operations and the current temporary road layout within the roadworks, the A1(M) will be fully closed southbound from J61 to J60 from 0930.
The duration of the closure depends on the recovery progress but it could take up to four hours.
During this time drivers will be diverted via the emergency diversion route via the A688, A177 and the A689 to rejoin the A1(M) at J60.
