An alternative Christmas heads to Baltic Square...
'Colossal' Christmas Tyne Gateshead Winter Village is open now!
Last updated 4th Jan 2019
The attraction hosts around 12 stalls- offering visitors the chance to pick up Christmas gifts, local crafts and seasonal food. The winter village even includes a giant Teepee, complete with a bar, fire pit and seating!
One of the most anticipated attractions is the unique dining experience; Christmas Tyne offers people the chance to book panoramic igloo pods! These are complete with a view of the tyne and exclusive menu from Colonel Porter's.
Organiser Steve Davis said: “Colonel Porter's have pulled out all of the stops with our Christmas Menu and it's fitting that this company is named after the man who created Newcastle Brown Ale who set sail from the Tyne near this site to make the beer one of the most recognised and popular brands in the world.
Davis also said “We're super excited about the launch of Christmas Tyne and we're looking forward to giving the people of Tyneside and beyond something truly different to experience this season.
“We were determined to host something for the people by the people this year with all of our food, beverages and gifts sourced within 40 miles of Gateshead."
Christmas Tyne, Gateshead Winter Village officially opened on Sunday 2nd December and will run into 2019.
Access to the site is free of charge and opening hours will stretch from 12 noon until 12 midnight seven days a week.
