Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall becomes Honorary President of South Shields FC

She's a massive fan!

Despite being 1/4 of one of the biggest girl bands on the planet in Little Mix, local lass Jade Thirlwall hasn't forgotten her local South Shields roots!

As well as making frequent trips back up to the North East to visit her mam Norma Badwi and the rest of her family, the 27-year-old is a patron of South Shields charity Cancer Connections, and the singer even has her own bar called Arbeia in the town centre.

But Jade isn't stopping there, as it's now been revealed the Little Mix has become the Honorary President of South Shields Football Club!

Announcing the news on social media, South Shields FC wrote, 'We are proud to announce that Jade Thirlwall has accepted the role of Honorary President at South Shields Football Club.

'Jade has further evidenced her love of and commitment to her hometown by accepting this role, which will see the Little Mix singer help to increase the club’s profile on a national and international scale, further putting the town on the map.

'We're thrilled to have Jade on board and look forward to working alongside her on projects which are close to all of our hearts.' (sic)

Speaking about her new role at the club who play their home games at Mariners Park, Jade said, “I’m incredibly proud to come from South Shields and one thing I am most proud of about my hometown is the sense of community and how we love to support each other and see each other do well in all aspects of life, which is something the football club very much embodies.

“I hope through my role I can raise awareness and increase the club’s profile, encouraging others to do the same and support our incredible team.

“I’m looking forward to also being involved with any future projects the club will embark on that coincide with what I am passionate about.”

Meanwhile, as well as helping out her local community, Jade is still smashing the charts alongside her Little Mix band mates Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson.

After dropping their brand new single 'Holiday', the girls also took part in a special one-off gig called 'UNCancelled' at Knebworth House that their fans could stream online.
