Cash for Kids grant £20,000 in the North East

Last summer, Cash for Kids granted £20,000 to support local disabled and disadvantaged children. Here are a few of the beneficiaries that received funding.

£750 was given to a 9 year old girl from Pity Me... The little girl was born with her umbilical chord wrapped round her neck which caused loss of oxygen to her brain. This has led to a development delay, sensory issues and possible Autism which is still being assessed. She struggles to regulate her emotions and often has meltdowns when she becomes anxious and overloaded, struggling to understand the world around her. The Cash for Kids grant was given for an outdoor sensory escape.

£2,615 was given to the North East Autism Society... North East Autism Society (NEAS) is the leading voice and largest specialist provider of whole-life support and services for people who are Neurologically Diverse across the region; namely those with Autism and other Hidden Impairments. Established by a group of parents who wanted better opportunities for their children almost 40 years ago, the Society since, has developed a diverse range of high quality services to safely meet varying well-being needs. Cash for Kids has granted funding so the group could launch a media project with the aim of empowering their children and young people to have a voice.

£500 was granted to a family in Blyth... Cash for Kids granted money to the family to fund beds and bedding for two young boys. Their Mother was in a domestically abusive relationship and had to leave the family home in a hurry with very few possessions. The children had no where to sleep in their new accommodation so the charity was approached to help with these essential items.
