Two men arrested after woman injured by air weapon

Police investigating an incident in South Shields where an elderly lady was injured by an air weapon have arrested two men.

The incident happened around 8.40am On Sunday morning (April 10) in Erskine Road in South Shields.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries, she has since been released and is recovering at home.

Yesterday evening (Monday, April 11), two men were arrested in connection with the offence.

A 20 year old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and a 22 year old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both have been released on police bail.

Enquiries are on-going and any witnesses should contact police.
