Two Arrested After Cannabis Recovery

Published 30th Oct 2015

Police in Sunderland have recovered more than 200 cannabis plants worth an estimated half a million pounds. The plants were found when police carried out a search warrant at a garage unit in Dubmire in Houghton earlier this month. Two men were arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and have been released on police bail. The cannabis had a street value of half a million pounds. Detective Inspector Paul Stewart said:

"Officers executed a search warrant on Saturday which saw a huge amount of cannabis with a substantial street value recovered and two men arrested. This is great news - we have dismantled a cannabis farm and prevented an illegal drug from reaching the streets. It is well known that drugs and drug use brings misery to those who have to put up with the associated crime and anti-social behaviour. We're committed to tackling its use and supply and anyone with information about those involved in such activity should contact police. It's vital information is passed on to us so we can take the appropriate action."
