The Show WILL Go On!!
Newcastle's favourite magician's told Metro Radio a broken hand will NOT stop his shows!
Chris Cross won't be doing much slight of hand now the 5th metacarpal has broken practicing a stunt.
The magic man said:
"I got the glittery cast as a tribute to Bowie! A fashion icon. I love anything a bit shiny and decadent, at least my cast will match my costumes and black & gold suits I perform in too! It's devastating for a magician to break half his livelihood, one of his hands.
It's a bit like a footballer breaking his right striking foot! I'm having to learn to be a lefty for the time being which has meant I've had to learn some totally different tricks...and quickly!
They're good though and I'll still fool everyone, I just hope there's no lasting damage. That could be disastrous for my shows if it doesn't heal properly. I've had to learn some tricks with my left hand to get me through my gigs booked in over the next month - the show must go on, just with one hand instead of two!
I did it when I was practicing a new big escape stunt that I'm planning to perform at my Tyne theatre show in September, I won't let this break stop me though, as soon as it's better I'm gonna try practicing it again! When practicing I slammed my hand off a marble table at home. Shame I couldn't have magicked it out of the way!!!
My current gigs I will still appear at and perform but it'll be different tricks that I can perform one handed for now until the cast comes off in a month!"
Ouch! Get well soon Chris!
He'll be fully healed in time for this show in September - The Greatest Show on The Tyne.
